43 coaches. One machine.
Zero cloud.

Receive Coaching is a desktop coaching app powered by an AI model running entirely on your own computer. Career, grief, ADHD, keto, spiritual life — every conversation stays on your machine, because it never had anywhere else to go.

Download for Windows How it works

Free. No account. No telemetry. ~100 MB portable .exe, nothing to install.

Privacy isn't a policy here. It's the architecture.

What's inside

43 specialist coaches

Practical (career, business, decisions), wellbeing (sleep, keto, mindfulness), psychological frameworks (CBT, REBT, NLP), life transitions (grief, divorce, midlife), and spiritual paths. Each with its own approach — and they refer to each other when your need fits elsewhere.

Memory that compounds

Your coaches remember: goals, commitments, recurring patterns, emotional trends. A mood strip shows your last 30 sessions at a glance, and a one-click Insights report finds the themes.

Ground coaches in your material

Drop .txt, .md, or .pdf files onto any coach — your journal, a book's notes, your business plan — and it coaches from that material, with sources cited.

Real chat ergonomics

Streaming replies, stop mid-generation, regenerate, edit your last message, per-coach chat history with archives, markdown export, voice read-aloud.

Safety-aware by design

Crisis signals route to human helplines — even when the model is offline. Clinical-adjacent coaches know their scope and say so.

Yours to extend

A coach is a folder with a JSON file. Add your own coach in five minutes. Swap models per coach. CLI included for terminal people.

Running in three steps

Install Ollama

Grab it from ollama.com — the free, open-source local model runner.

Pull two models

ollama pull llama3.1 and ollama pull nomic-embed-text. About 5 GB total.

Run the app

Double-click ReceiveCoaching-portable.exe. No install, no admin rights, no Python required.

Requirements: Windows 10/11, 64-bit. 8 GB RAM minimum (16 GB recommended for the 8B model). Any GPU helps but isn't required. Advanced users can point it at any OpenAI-compatible server instead of Ollama.

Questions you should ask

Is it actually private, or "private"?

Actually. The app's only network traffic is to 127.0.0.1 — the model server on your own machine. There is no account system, no telemetry, no crash reporting, no update phone-home. You can verify this with any network monitor, and the source is readable.

Is this therapy?

No. It's coaching — structured questions, reframing, accountability. Coaches in clinical-adjacent areas (CBT, anxiety, addiction recovery, grief) explicitly state their limits and point you toward professional help when your need is beyond coaching. Crisis signals surface real helplines immediately.

How good is a local model at coaching?

Good coaching is mostly good questions, and 8B-class models ask good questions reliably — especially grounded in your own memory and source material. You can point any coach at a bigger model if your hardware allows.

What does it cost?

Nothing. No subscription, no tiers. The cloud coaching apps charge $10–20/month partly because every message costs them server money. Yours run on electricity you already pay for.
